Preparation time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 15 minutes
Total time: 25 minutes
serve: 4
Ingredients Needed:
- 500 gram brussels sprouts, trimmed and peeled
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp of cumin seeds
- ½ tsp of mustard seeds
- 2 inch of ginger, grated
- 4 cloves of garlic, cut into long thin pieces
- ½ tsp of turmeric powder
- 1 tsp rock salt
- ½ flaked red chili, (optional)
- ¼ black pepper, finely ground
Method:
- Take a steamer with water and keep on high heat. As soon as the water starts boiling, add brussels sprouts on the top pan and let it boil for 8 to 10 minutes or until the sprouts have become soft to touch. Once the sprouts have been added to the pan, the heat can be reduced to medium.
- Take a heavy based pan and keep on medium heat. When it gets a little hot, add oil and leave it for a while and add cumin and mustard seeds. As soon as it starts bubbling, add ginger and garlic and leave it on heat until it gets a little pink, add turmeric powder and mix these properly.
- After a couple of minutes, add brussels sprouts and salt and mix it properly. Heat should be reduced to low and the pan should be covered and left for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes, it should be stirred slowly so that these do not break. Chilly powder and pepper should be added and mixed properly so that the salt and pepper is nicely quoted with sprouts.
This dish will go well as a side.
